Bill Madden of the NY Daily News: Red Sox & Terry Francona part ways.
The Daily News has been told by sources that Francona is out as Red Sox manager in a meeting this morning with team owner John Henry. The sources said that the decision to end the Sox’ relationship with Francona was Henry’s call, not general manager Theo Epstein’s, who in a joint press conference Thursday said he was not holding Francona accountable for the Red Sox’ failure to make the playoffs after holding an 11-game lead in August and a nine-game lead on Sept. 4
